12/6 1-3pm, Joan M. Landis - Oh My God...She's Huge!
"Are you tired of being a couch potato, living from one reality show to the next? Oh My God…She’s Huge!!” is the first book of its kind in which author Joan Landis describes quite vividly the real life trials and tribulations of living in the lonely and often secretive world of morbid obesity. By sharing her experience from such a unique, honest, and deeply personal perspective, Joan, draws you into her story—before you know it, whether fat or thin, you are able to identify with much of what she has to say.
“Oh My God…She’s Huge!!” is a lighthearted yet poignant look at this obesity epidemic, and the social stigma that is associated with it. “Landis does an incredible job of capturing the mood and attitude of the majority of society when interacting with the morbidly obese population—bringing to light their thoughtless and insensitive responses. She holds nothing back when sharing her insights, experiences, and deepest thoughts.” Dr. George L. Sabo, D.C.
Joan Landis knows morbid obesity, because she lived that life for almost thirty-nine years. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a second major in sociology at Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania. She spent most of her adult years employed in the Human Services field—working with individuals who have mental disabilities, mental health issues, and physical disabilities. "
